Shahram Yousefi

Shahram Yousefi is passionate for technology, innovation, teaching, learning, sustainability, harmony, and helping others. These passions are particularly fulfilled by teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in engineering, advising and supervising students, developing new ideas and technologies, developing curriculum, and organizing related workshops and conferences.

Shahram received his B.Sc. in electrical engineering from university of Tehran, Iran. Having worked in industry for a few years, he joined the department of electrical and computer engineering of university of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada, as an M.A.Sc. student where he received his PhD. While still a Ph.D. student at Waterloo, he instructed undergraduate courses and received more than 20 research and teaching awards and scholarships including the NSERC PGSB, OGS, OGS-ST, and Sandford Fleming foundation teaching awards.

Since 2002, he has held positions at Edward S. Rogers Sr. department of electrical and computer engineering of university of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, and department of electrical and computer engineering of Queen's university, Kingston, Canada, where he is currently a tenured full professor, a senator, and Acting Department Head.

At Queen's, he has served as a member of the curriculum committee, undergraduate chair, IEEE chair and vice chair, chair of sub-committee on nonacademic discipline (SONAD), and biennial symposium on communications (BSC) chair. He is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO of Canada and currently serves as an editor for the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials journal. Prof. Yousefi was appointed the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian journal of electrical and computer engineering (CJECE) in Jan. 2013.
