Biography
Ahmad Afsahi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, in 2000, and his M.Sc and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and Shiraz University, respectively. Before joining Queen's University as an Assistant Professor in 2000, Dr. Afsahi was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Laboratory for Parallel and Intelligent Systems of the University of Victoria.
His research activities are in the areas of parallel and distributed processing, network-based high-performance computing, advanced computer architecture, and power-aware high-performance computing. His research has earned him a Canada Foundation for Innovation Award, and an Ontario Innovation Trust Award. His teaching activities are in the areas of digital systems, computer architecture, and cluster computing. Dr. Afsahi is an associated faculty in Queen's Collaborative Graduate Specialization in Computational Science and Engineering.
Dr. Afsahi is a licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Ontario, a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and a Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
